I am very passionate about helping students achieve their academic goals and love to see my students’ eyes light up when they finally understand a new concept. I have tutored elementary students, university and graduate students, adult learners, and have taught English abroad in South Korea. Whether you need tutoring, or a sounding board for your college application or personal statement, I would enjoy the opportunity to be your teacher, mentor, and cheerleader! I take an individualized approach to tutoring, as I understand that everyone has a different learning strength. I believe in setting short-term and long-term goals at the first meeting to help keep both parties (student and teacher) stay focused on shared objectives. My ultimate goal is to fill in any gaps you have in your learning so you can better understand the subject you are struggling with, and no longer require my assistance. I will quickly fill in the gaps, get you caught up, and teach you how to deal with new concepts on your own. Later, if your subject presents a new challenge, we can address it with an occasional tutoring session. I am extremely patient and will not judge you. I will just help you. I will meet you at your level of understanding, wherever that level that may be, and we will build from there. Many students were never taught the basic concepts of a specific subject. Because students lack a strong foundation, the entire course can be a struggle for them. If this is the situation you are facing, we will work on the basics first so you can better understand your subject as a whole. I make myself available for discussion and communication outside of regularly scheduled sessions. I have routinely worked through the night to edit students' college essays and applications as deadlines fast-approached, and have helped calm nerve-racked students prior to their exams and first job interviews.
