Experience
After graduating from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, I moved to Camden, New Jersey, to attend Rutgers University where I earned a master's degree in English. I have taught on the middle school, high school, and college levels across New York and New Jersey, including Williamstown Middle School Livingston School, Bushwick Ascend Middle School, and Columbia High School. After several years, I have found the place where I belong: Maria L. Varisco-Rogers Charter School located in Newark, New Jersey, where I teach writing and language arts to 7th and 8th grade students. I currently live in Nutley, New Jersey. After accepting a position within the charter school system in New York City, I completed a training program that lasted three weeks. This program showed me new methods for managing a classroom as well as different techniques when designing an efficient lesson plan. I also learned how to evaluate my students in a way that showed me which topics need re-teaching and which topics need brief reviewing. Subjects in which I tutor include Spanish, English, reading, writing, grammar and mechanics, phonics, literature, and college essays. I also help with editing essays. In my spare time, you can find me reading, crafting, or running.
